I am doing a bird-themed storytime in the morning and have somehow misplaced my “Five Hoot Owls” flannel that goes with this rhyme:
Five hoot owls sitting in a tree
One flew away! How many do you see?
One, two, three, four.Four hoot owls….
Three hoot owls….
Two hoot owls….One hoot owl sitting in a tree
One flew away! How many do you see?
None!Credit: Found on Mel’s Desk
I thought that instead of making a new set out of felt, I would make some owl clipart to share with you all! (But if you do want to make them out of felt, you can find my template here.)
Yes, I realize that I made six owls…but five looked uneven. So now you have color options.
To make the flannelboard, I printed the owls out and then laminated them. I purchased my own laminator years ago….and I use it constantly! This is the one that I currently use – Scotch Thermal Laminator & Laminating Pouches. I like that the lamination is thick and sturdy. Just add a piece of Velcro to the back of each owl and you are ready to go. Quick and easy for when you need a last minute flannelboard!
Here’s the clipart (click on each picture for the full-size image). Enjoy!
