OPENING SONG: Can’t Wait to Celebrate
BOOK 1: The Perfect Hug by Joanna Walsh
I Can Hug
I can hug, hug, hug,
I can hop, hop, hop,
I can kiss, kiss kiss,
I can stop, stop, stop.
I can nod my head yes,
And I can shake my head no, And I can sit down very low.
Itsy Bitsy Monkey
The itsy bitsy monkey climbed up the coconut tree (have hands climb)
Down came a coconut that bopped him on the knee (drop fist from over head to hit yourself on the knee)
Along came his Mama, who hugged away the pain (hug yourself)
Then the itsy bitsy monkey climbed up the tree again (climb hands again having kids stretch as high as they can reach)

FLANNEL STORY: The Kissing Hand
Chester the Raccoon
really missed his mom.
So she gave him a kiss
in the middle of his palm.
The kiss helps him,
when they are apart.
Can you help him
find the matching heart?

I love this book but knew it would be too long for this group to sit through so this flannel rhyme was perfect! We also happen to have a raccoon puppet which the kids loved 🙂
I didn’t have a song planned but the kids needed to move and jump so we played Jumping & Counting by Jim Gill.
BOOK 2: Daddy Hug by Tim Warnes
CLOSING RHYME: Tickle the Clouds
CLOSING SONG: Skinnamarink
This was such a cute idea (inspired by Pinterest) that everyone loved! It was a little more involved since parents had to help their children trace and cut out hands but definitely worth it! Stickers and crayons were used to decorate the hands. Once hands were ready I measured each child’s arm span with yarn to create the “hug” length. Everyone got a card with this rhyme on it to mail with their hug…
Wrap these hands around you,
Whenever I’m away.
So you can have a hug from me,
anytime of the day!
SNACK: Hershey Kiss HUGS of course 🙂
