Party Time!

TODDLER PROGRAM

It’s so sad to say that this was my last storytime for our Spring session 😦 so of course we decided to throw a little party! This party themed storytime actually ended up being very fun despite my sadness! Parents and children brought in treats and snacks, we made party streamers, and did some dancing! I highly recommend doing this as a final storytime 🙂

OPENING SONG: The More We Get Together

OPENING RHYMES:

BOOK 1: Party Animals by Kathie Lee Gifford

ACTION RHYME: For this one I used the rhyme from the Birthday’s post. I asked the group what they liked to eat at party’s and course they all screamed… birthday cake! So before doing the birthday cake flannel rhyme we baked the cake!

Mix the batter, stir the batter (make a stirring motion with one arm/hand)
Shake some flour in (make a shaking motion with one arm/hand)
Mix the batter, stir the batter (make a stirring motion with one arm/hand)
Place it in a tin (pretend to pour)

Sprinkle in some chocolate chips (pretend to sprinkle)
Put it in to bake (open both hands, palms up, and slide them forward)
Then open wide the oven door (pretend to open door)

And out comes the cake! (open both hands, palms up, and slide them forward)

FLANNEL RHYME: Once we were done baking the cake, I put the candles on it and sang this rhyme with the group – be sure to blow all the candles out and don’t forget to make a wish!

**I found the Birthday Cake flannel from Storytime Katie

????????

Five Birthday Candles
Five birthday candles

Wish there were more
Blow one out (blow quickly)
Then there are four
Four birthday candles
Pretty as can be!
Blow one out (blow quickly)
Then there are three
Three birthday candles
Shining bright for you
Blow one out (blow quickly
Then there are two
Two birthday candles
Almost Done..
Blow one out (blow quickly)
Then there was one
One birthday candle
Standing all alone,
Quick! Make a wish before the candle is blown!

SONG: The Freeze Dance by Music for Little People Choir from the album Birthday Party Singalong

BOOK 2: If You Give a Pig a Party by Laura Numeroff

CLOSING RHYME: Tickle the Clouds

CLOSING SONG: Skinnamarink

CRAFT: Party Streamers
This was a quick craft which gave the group time to play, eat, and enjoy the party! Just cut strips of crepe paper and have the children glue them onto large popsicle sticks!
