OPENING SONG: If You’re Happy and You Know It
BOOK 1: Be Quiet, Mike! by Leslie Patricelli
This book is about monkey mike and his love for making music! It was an interactive book, which the children really enjoyed. On specific pages the children were able to yell as loud as they could, “BE QUIET, MIKE”! This was such a fun book that really kept their attention, I highly recommend it!
ACTION SONG: Monkey See, Monkey Do
Monkey see, monkey do
Little monkey at the zoo
Monkey, monkey in the tree
Can you ________ like me?
(jump around, swing your arms, scratch an itch, eat a banana – I had fun asking the kids what to do instead!)

FLANNEL STORY: 5 Little Monkeys
Five little monkeys
Sitting in a tree
Teasing Mister Crocodile:
“You can’t catch me.”
Along comes Mister Crocodile,
Quiet as can be
And SNAPS that monkey
Right out of that tree!
No more little monkeys
Sitting in a tree!
TEMPLATE FOR FLANNEL: I used this free clipart picture to make my monkeys! There was no real template so I just googled a monkey that would be easy to cut-out. I actually found the crocodile in my storage room from a previous flannel activity but there are many clipart crocodile pictures as well!
BOOK 2: Sock Monkeys Do the Monkey Monkey!
by William B. Winburn
Since the first book was a little bit longer, I chose this book to do second because it had the children up moving and dancing the whole time! It’s a monkey version of the classic hokey pokey!
I found this craft on pinterest under a valentine’s day idea! It’s originally from the Fiskars website. There was no template but it’s pretty easy to free hand the different pieces. I went ahead and cut out all the pieces so that way all the children had to do was put it together using a glue stick.
