BOOK 1: Who Took the Cookie From the Cookie Jar by David Carter
This is a fun, lift-the-flap book with different animals hiding in the cookie jars.
FINGERPLAY: Pat-a-Cake
Clap hands, slap knees, clap hands, slap knees etc. (Parents can help children with this.) Older children can face their parent/caregiver for a clapping game: clap own hands, then clap partners palms.
Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker’s man.
Bake me a cake as fast as you can.
Pat it and roll it and mark it with “B”
And put it in the oven for Baby and me.

Actions: Hold hands with a partner and walk in a circle then clap hands on the second verse

Mother ate the pink one, then there were four.

FINGERPLAY: Making Cookies
I am making cookie dough. (hold out arms in a circle, like a bowl)
Round and round the beaters go. (roll hands)
Add some flour from a cup. (shake a pretend cup)
Stir and stir the batter up. (stirring motion)
Roll them, cut them nice and neat. (rolling pin motion)
Put them on a cookie sheet. (place pretend cookies)
Bake them, count them 1-2-3. (counting motion)
Serve them to my friends for tea. (take a bite!)
CLOSING SONG: We Wave Goodbye Like This
CRAFT: How could we have a storytime about goodies without eating some of our own? In addition to eating cookies, I made some playdough the night before in a variety of colors. Children played with the playdough and then took it home with them in baggies.
