OPENING SONG Can’t Wait to Celebrate
from Jim Gill’s Irrational Anthem album

BOOK 1 – Do Fish Drink? First Questions and Answers about Water by Jacqueline Ball
I read only the first few pages of this book (specifically pages 5-7) that relate to baths and bubbles.

ACTION RHYME - Bubbles

A small bubble (make a circle with your hands)
A medium sized bubble (make a larger circle with your hands)
A great big bubble I see (make a large circle with your arms)
Now let’s count them, are you ready?
1 –2 – 3  (make 3 circles again)
POP!  (clap hands loudly once)

POEM/SONG – Take Me Out of the Bathtub and Other Silly Dilly Songs by Alan Katz
“Take Me Out of the Bathtub” is a silly rhyme set to the tune of “Take Me Out to the BallGame.”  You can read it or sing it!

FLANNEL RHYME - Five Elephants in the Bathtub

Print PDF here

One elephant in the bathtub
Going for a swim.
Knock, Knock                     Clap twice
Splash, Splash,                   Slap knees twice
Come on in!                        Motion with both hands to come in

(Repeat up to ‘Five’)

Five elephants in the bathtub
Going for a swim.
Knock, Knock,
Splash, Splash,
They all fell in!

BOOK 2 - Who’s in the Tub? by Sylvie Jones

FLANNEL GUESSING GAME -  Who’s in the tub?
I use the flannel board while reading the book, and then afterwards I used it to play a memory game with the class.  Put all of the characters on the board, have everyone close their eyes – no peeking! – and remove one piece.  Then ask: “What picture is missing?”

ACTION SONG -  Washing

Wash your head, and shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes
Wash your head, and shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes
Eyes and ears and mouth and nose -
Wash your head, and shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes

BOOK 3 - Pop! A Book About Bubbles by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley

ACTIVITY - Go outside and blow bubbles!
The whole class walked outside and I passed out containers of bubbles.  What fun!
